ABOUT KESHI KERAMIK

Keshi Keramik is unique Danish craftsmanship by Ninna Rosentoft.
All ceramics are wheelthrown, handbuilt and glazed in her own studio in Denmark.

The ceramics is based on the passion for nature and its uniqueness. This is expressed in inspiration from the aesthetics of nature. Keshi Keramik is about creating life in every pieces through experimenting with the raw and natural possibilities in the clay. It gives the ceramics a recognizable and excessive expression in shape, color and engraving. And the result is functional ceramics with a timeless design.

NINNA ROSENTOFT

I am a part time potter based in Denmark. Pottery has been my passion for many years as I as a child started to work with handbuilding. In 2020 I stared Keshi Keramik and began to do wheelthrowing as well.

I finished my Master of Arts in Psychology and Educational Studies in 2021, with special interest in learning, mental wellbeing and creativity. My hope is to combine my passion for ceramics, intuition and creativity. I want to create an awareness of nature and our responsibility to be sustainable towards nature through the art of ceramics.

DEFINING HANDMADE CERAMICS

The definition of handmade can be used in different ways. Keshi Keramik is either wheelthrown, handbuilt and/or carved by me.

Wheelthrowing takes place on a turning wheel, that helps the process in speed and accuracy, when the purpose for the ceramics is to create a symmetric expression.

Handbuilding is an old technique used for making ceramics, and provides each piece with an unique expression. I especially love handbuilding for larger and stranger pieces.

THE PROCESS IN THE ART OF CERAMIC

Ceramic is a craft that gives both joy and peace to my mind and hands while working through the process. From weighing, wedging and throwing to glazing, requires many decisions, which my intuition has the best answer to. It gives me great energy to create a piece of art by using the creative and intuitive part of myself.

CERAMIC AS A CREATIVE EXPRESSION

In my younger days in pre school, I began to create ceramics. I realized it gave me a lot of peace to use my hands for creation rather than using mind and logic. Today, ceramic is a platform to practice not only pottery but also a presence and an inner strength.

EXPERIMENTAL FASE

The process always has some vibe of experimenting for me – when it comes to shapes, carvings and glazes. I have a passion for trying out new aspects of clay, tools and colours to see what’s possible and how far I can take a piece.

A PERSONAL TOUCH

I want my work to express personality and soul. This is why my work illustrates my inspiration from nature, experiences, people or sometimes feelings or moods. It gives every piece a personal touch.
